This device converts wasted microwave energy to energy you can use
Summary: The new "Microwave Regenerative Converter is a device that makes use of the energy wasted by your microwave. The product has yet to be released to the market. It will be advertised for everyday household use. The price and usefulness of the product aren't known yet, but it is apparent that the efficiency of the device will vary greatly by different foods and microwaves. This device is a rectenna, a device that has been around for years, but never before has it been used for such a purpose. The device is said to be small and easy to use.
Reflection: This product by itself doesn't seem to be too groundbreaking. How much energy can really be harvested from your microwave? But the idea here is what's interesting. Scientists continue to come up with new ways to create cleaner energy and make things more efficient. While this product is a step in the right direction, I think the only way for it to make a significant impact would be if it were distributed in mass, as in having one on every new microwave, or if it could create energy from multiple appliances. I can connect this article to Diane's one about using bodies as fuel, as they both are unique ways to create alternative energy.
Questions:
1. Would you buy this for your microwave? Why or why not?
2. How could this idea be improved upon?
3. What are some other ideas for alternative energy that you can think of?
I believe that this is a good idea. It definatly would not be a significant impact if only a couple of people got this. If this was to catch on and everyone got one it definatly could be an alternate source of energy. It could definatly be improved upon though. I think in order for us to make a better judgement on this though we would need to know how much energy would come from the microwave.
ReplyDeleteQuestions:
1.) How efficient is this?
2.) If this product works differently on different foods, would people tend to eat the foods that produce more energy more than the foods that produce less energy?
3.) Could this product be harmful iin any way to people?
In response to Dan's first question, I believe that if this "Microwave Regenerative Converter" is at a reasonable price and does actually work, then people may actually buy it. I think that we should try to come up with more ideas like this to help save or conserve energy that we use that goes to waste that could potentially be used for a good cause. I think that if this Microwave Regenerative Converter does work, it will put our country a step in the right direction and we will start to come up with more ideas similar to this.
ReplyDeleteQuestions :
1) If this has been around for years, why have we yet to try it out if we are trying to find alternatives for energy uses?
2) If " Scientists continue to come up with new ways to create cleaner energy and make things more efficient" like Dan had stated, how come there are not many products out? Is there not much thought put out?
3)How long do you think it will take for our country to come out with another product like this and succeed? Or do you think this product will not succeed and put us back at square one?
This is a very interesting new way to use energy! It's a smart idea, and if it works then it will be very helpful. It would decrease the amount of energy wasted and it can go to use with something else. Scientists are coming up with many new inventions to help limit the amount of resources we waste. This energy will be collected from the microwave and used for something else, which is a great way to preserve energy.
ReplyDelete1) Is this product safe? It's been said that the energy given by your microwave could be dangerous to your health, so is it safe to collect it?
2) Once energy is collected what use does it have?
3) How long would it take to collect enough energy from the microwave in order for it to be useful?
This is definitely a step in the right direction.Taking wasted energy and putting it to use. Although the efficientcey of the product is unknown it still is beneficial. If this machine can prove to provide a lot of energy over a small amount of time it can be a good resource for energy in the future. I agree with Dan on the fact that its great to see that scientists and creating machines like this one. I know in my house we use a lot of energy therefore this could be very beneficial in my household.
ReplyDelete1) Does this product give off radiation like microwaves.
2) Is this machine easy to use?
3) How durable is the machine. How long will it last.
